Marc Destrubé enjoys an international reputation as a performer of baroque and classical music on period instruments. He is co-concertmaster of the Orchestra of the 18th Century (Amsterdam) with whom he tours four times annually in the major concert halls and festivals of Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, including recently as soloist and as director. He is also an accomplished modern violinist, performing as soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster or director/conductor of orchestras. He is first violinist with the Axelrod String Quartet (Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC). He was founding director of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, concertmaster of the CBC Radio Orchestra and first violinist with the Purcell String Quartet. He regularly performs during MusicFest Vancouver and for Early Music Vancouver. His recording of Haydn violin concertos has been critically acclaimed and he has commissioned and premiered works by a number of Canadian composers. He is also in demand as a teacher and has given classes or been a guest professor at the Paris and Moscow conservatories, at the University of Indiana and at Oberlin College.
