Vern Griffiths has been Principal Percussionist with the Vancouver Symphony since 1997 and is also a member of Standing Wave and the National Broadcast Orchestra. Vern can be heard on recordings with these groups as well as on soundtracks for Disney, ABC, IMAX, NFB, EA Sports, and Dreamworks. Other recent performances include the Music on Main All-Star Band, MusicFest Vancouver, and UBC Pacific Spirit concerts. At UBC, he is the head of the percussion department and the director of the percussion ensemble. Vern has degrees in Commerce and Music from the University of British Columbia, and his Master of Music degree in Orchestral Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
